Feeling Better

We are all feeling a little better now. m. is much improved. We went on a small outing on Thursday. They just turned 7 months old. Here they are in their new double wide stroller. They went outside for a little bit today. All the trees are starting to bloom so we didn't stay out too long.
Just wanted to let everyone know we are doing better. I need about three months of sleep, though.

Update:

Baby W. also has a double ear infection, but has thus far escaped the flu, and apparently it is unusual for babies to get strep. Baby M. seems to be feeling a little better. I had forgotten how challenging E. is when she's sick. When she was a toddler I knew she was sick because she'd get overly disobedient. Thankfully she can go to school tomorrow. Her Grandma J. is going to take her and P. home for the afternoon. Yes, I feel slightly guilty for not spending her birthday with her. But she'll have more fun with someone other than me. And I might actually get some work done.

My mother is sacrificing her day off to come over and help me out on Thursday. I think I made her feel bad when I called this morning to see if she could skip work to help me out since I had to go to the dr.'s office again. I didn't mean to. But I'm glad for the help.

Worse than I thought

After my brief post yesterday, I fed baby W. then put him to bed and picked up Baby M. to feed him. He was so hot he nearly burned me. So I took his temperature. 103. And he was really congested and rattly in his chest. So off to the children's e.r. we go. It's been awhile since we were there. They took snot samples, x-rays, monitored his pulse and o2 levels and gave him a breathing treatment. He had another double ear infection. His lungs were clear, so no pneumonia. We leave with a prescription for an inhaler and some amoxicillan. Then while commiserating w/ my sister(one of her wards has the coxsackie virus) I get a call from Children's healthcare. M. had a positive flu test. So, he has a double ear infection and the flu. He's really miserable. And he wants to be in my arms at all times. I'll get him settled down somewhere, but as soon as he sees me again or hear my voice he lets out this really pathetic wail. Splitcat was holding him last night while I was eating some ice cream and he kept trying to turn and look at me and was crying. At first we thought he wanted the food, but as soon as I took him back he settled right down and went to sleep. He just needed his momma.

So E. had a fever since Friday. It was still with us this morning so I took her into the dr. Her ears and nose and lungs were all clear, but her throat was a little red. She's been coughing, so I wasn't surprised. The dr. says maybe she has a mild case of the flu, but let's do a strep test just in case. Wouldn't it be a cruel joke if she has strep she says. She has strep.

I feel like a quivering mass of germs. M. won't let me put him down. E. can't keep her hands of W(who has a runny nose and cough) and keeps trying to crawl into the recliner with M. and I.
P. has so far escaped the viral whirlpool.

Needless to say, any prayers would be greatly appreciated. Is it June yet?

Nothing New Here

Hi there faithful readers.

So what's going on in the Chintzibob household these days? We are all still sick. Woohoo.

I am also working on getting stuff together for the Spring consignment sale. It's been hard to let go of some things. But I am. I don't remember a whole lot of E.'s baby hood except that she was sick a lot. But there are certain clothes of her that are vivid reminders of her chunky legs and bright smile. It's her birthday on Wednesday. She will be 4. She is a delightful little girl(most days). She likes lots of hugs and to sit in my lap. Here she is at three months old. Her little brother M. looks and acts a lot like her.
So we'll be making our yearly trek to Chuck E, Cheese. And splitcat's aunts are coming to visit to see the new babies and to see how the big kids have grown.

A Valley of Betrayal by Tricia Goyer

For reasons beyond her control, Sophie finds herself alone in the war-torn Spanish countryside, searching for her beloved Michael. His work as a news photographer has taken him deep into the country wracked by civil war. What was once a thriving paradise has become a battleground for Nazi-backed Franco fascist soldiers and Spanish patriots. She is caught up in the escalating events when the route to safety is blocked and fighting surrounds her.

Secrets abound in the ruined Spain. Michael is loving but elusive, especially about beautiful Maria. The American who helped Sophie sneak into Spain turns up in odd places. Michael's friend Jose knows more than he tells. When reports of Michael's dissappearance reach her, Sophie is devastated. What are her feelings for Philip, an American soldier who comes to her rescue?Sophie must sift truth from lies as she becomes more embroiled in the war that threatens her life and breaks her heart. On her darkest night, Sophie takes refuge with a brigade of international compatriots. Among these volunteers, she pledges to make the plight of the Spanish people known around the world through the power of art.

Acclaimed author Tricia Goyer creates a riviting cast of characters against the backdrop of pre-WWII spain. Love, loss, pain, and beauty abound in A Valley Of Betrayal, the first book in her new series, Chronicles of the Spanish Civil War.

What did I think?
I didn't think I was going to like this book, but now I can't wait for the next in the series. If you are a historical romance fan be sure to check this one out.
How do you know you're cool?

If you wear a gold chain and sunglasses you are cool.

That's according to my son.

Well, I have 3 healthy children out of 4. M. still has a light wheeze and a slight ear infection.

Splitcat is out with the girl, it's her ballet night. She loves to dance and sing. P. is playing Lego Star Wars(he told his dad this was the best day of his life because he got to play.) W. is thankfully asleep. M. was but a burp woke him, so he's watching his brother play Lego Star wars. I should be doing something productive, like laundry, but I don't want to.

But now I've won the pod race and made lots of money for the boy. He's learning about money at school this week. He thinks 2oo pennies is a whole lot of money.

I guess I'm just rambling now, so have a nice day and check out the post below if you like historical romance.
